Was the WSOP wrong to rule against this form of poker?
Addition by subtraction, or detraction by subtraction? That’s the debate swirling throughout the poker community several months before the 2009 World Series of Poker kicks off. Harrah’s announced its schedule of events in January, and while the hope was that the new additions, such as the $40K No-Limit Hold ’Em event, would be the ones to get people talking, it’s instead the removal of a WSOP staple, tournaments with rebuys, that has set the message boards aflame.
WSOP Communications Director Seth Palansky explained the decision by saying, “In simple terms, we want every bracelet to be up for grabs in a fair and equitable manner. Skill should determine the winner, not how big your wallet is.”
